When you place an order you will be asked to send an email with your photograph attached as a jpeg with as high resolution as possible. If you are in some doubt as to the best photo to use, you are very welcome to send a selection for Colin to choose from. Colin will confirm which photo he prefers before starting the portrait and send a pencil sketch for your your approval.
Only have a photo print?
This isn't a problem at all. You can post it to Colin (address will be provided) and it will be returned safely along with the portrait.
Tips on choosing your photo
Colin is happy to work from all types of photo for a pet portrait, whatever the angle or cropping. It is often the more unconventional photo, for example very close-up, angled from high, or at ground level, that inspires the most expressive, dramatic and personal portrait. The most important thing is that you must love the original photo that is used! It must also accurately reflect the personality of your pet, so that the painting does too. Note; If the photograph lacks definition (black Labrador sitting in a dark shadow) or has its nose and ears cropped off then it would not make a good subject for a portrait!
